Razor 1/8 Wing Breakdown: Which One’s Right for You?

- The full article was originally published on JConcepts (Products) -

When it comes to 1/8 off-road racing, there are a lot of important setup and tuning options, but one that often gets overlooked is the rear wing. The right wing can completely change how your buggy or truggy feels on the track. Here’s a quick breakdown of the JConcepts Razor lineup and when to bolt each one on.

JConcepts Razor #2998

Go-to for loose, bumpy, or choppy tracks when you want more forward bite and stability. Tall rear dam adds drive off corners. Dropped center section and tall dividers keep the car planted into jumps.

JConcepts Razor L.D. #5125

Low-drag feel for high-speed layouts and big jumps. Lowered rear dam frees up the car in sweepers and 180’s so it carries more roll speed without feeling “stuck.” Still stable, still tunable, just faster and flatter through the air.

JConcepts Razor Polycarbonate Set #0519
Ultra-light 1mm polycarbonate for the most responsive feel and widest tuning window. Includes a removable center divider and tall, trim-to-taste gurney for quick aero adjustments. Note: some mounts may need a small trim for clearance.

Venting 101
Wings can parachute over big jumps, sending the nose high or making the car float. Pre-marked vent holes let air escape for flatter flight and better consistency in the wind. The trade-off is a touch less rear grip, so start closed and open as needed.
