The 2022 Indoor National Series has officially come to a close as we ended the year at Hobby Action in Chandler, Arizona!
This was our 12th year of the JConcepts INS, and it was a success! We saw record participation numbers at some tracks and had 5 incredible races. We welcomed Adrenaline RC Raceway into the series for its first year and enjoyed traveling to their wonderful facility.
We want to start by thanking all our sponsors, participants, and host tracks for making all of this possible.

Hobby Action RC Raceway is a premier facility you probably already know and love. We also look forward to spending time in the Phoenix area, as the accommodations are top-notch. Hobby Action’s facility is spacious, clean, and fully stocked for all your hobby/racing needs.
For tires, we always run the trusty silver smoothie 2s and experiment with the various tuning options. Drivers typically try RM2 foams in the front and dirt-tech inserts in the rear. A few even tried out the Sidewall support adaptors.
As for the format, we practiced all day Thursday and most of Friday. Friday evening, we completed round one of qualifying. On Saturday, we had the final two rounds of qualifying followed by the main events on Sunday.

17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy: Jake Thayer (1)
2wd Modified Buggy: Spencer Rivkin (1)
A1: Spencer Rivkin led the way for about 6 laps. On his 7th lap, he got on two wheels as he made the turn before the center section. He fell on his lid, and Cavalieri got by into the lead. However, Rivkin was back in the action on Cavalieri’s wing. It could’ve been anyone’s race still. They raced nose to tail until the final tone. The race concluded with Cavalieri in 1st, Rivkin in 2nd, and Tessmann in 3rd.
A2: Spencer held a strong lead 99% of the race. The primary battle was between Maifield in Champlin for 2nd place. Champlin was all over Maifield’s bumper. Maifield wasn’t far off of Rivkin’s bumper either. It was a three-car battle. After the far-back triple and into the single on lap 7, Rivkin went wide, and Maifield sent it to the inside. Unfortunately, Maifield got a little sideways but still held onto 2nd place. Rivkin’s lead lengthened. On the next lap, in the same spot, Champlin took the inside line and got by Maifield into 2nd. Champlin was on a mission to catch back up to Rivkin. The clock expired and it was the final lap. Rivkin and Champlin go nearly side-by-side over the back triple. They continued to stay side by side over the single, Rivkin slightly ahead. Champlin tried to take the inside line through the turn before the center triple but caught Rivkin’s car. Rivkin then got stuck on the pipe, and Champlin took the win. A2 concluded as follows: Champlin, Rivkin, and Tessmann.
A3: The overall winner was still undetermined. A3 was, fortunately, for Rivkin, an uneventful race. He was able to lead from start to finish. Ryan Maifield also held 2nd the entire 5-minute main. The main switch-up was on lap 5 when Cavalieri got past Champlin on the back triple. From there, everyone cruised to the finish. A3 concluded as follows, Spencer Rivkin, Ryan Maifield, and Ryan Cavalieri.
40+ 2wd Buggy: Alex Sturgeon (1)
4wd Modified Buggy: Spencer Rivkin (1)
A1: Rivkin had a strong showing in A1 of 4wd Modified Buggy. He led the race from start to finish as he lengthened his gap on the field. The primary battle was between Broc Champlin and Ryan Cavalieri for 2nd. On lap 4, Cavalieri was able to make a pass on Champlin for 2nd. A few laps later, Cavalieri made a mistake, and  Champlin took back 2nd place. Champlin held strong and tried to create some space for the remainder of the race. On the final lap, Cavalieri was putting pressure on Champlin. Over the back triple, Champlin was trying to pull away but got caught on the pipe, and Cavalieri took 2nd. A1 concluded as Rivkin, Cavalieri, and Evans.
A2: A2 of 4wd Modified Buggy had a rocky start for the field. Rivkin led out the race with Champlin on his wing. On lap three, Rivkin got caught on the pipe right before the back triple. Champlin tapped him back around and took over the lead. Rivkin was still in the fight, holding on to 2nd. Dustin Evans was running 3rd. Champlin began to stretch out his lead and Evans made moved up into 2nd. On lap 8 Champlin went over the center triple and then the right-side double, and got a little sideways. Evans was close enough to capitalize on it. A2 concluded as Evans, Champlin, and Cavalieri.
A3: A3 of 4wd Modified was relatively smooth sailing for Rivkin. Rivkin led from start to finish with Champlin hanging on behind him in 2nd. A few laps from the finish, Champlin had an unfortunate break which allowed Cavalieri to move up into 2nd. A3 concluded as Rivkin, Cavalieri, and Tessmann.
13.5 Expert 4wd Buggy: Jake Thayer (1), Sammy Moran (2)
