The first European Championship event of the year is just weeks away! That’s right, the EC 1/12th Electric Track is happening from the 14th to the 16th of April, taking place in the South of England in the town of Eastbourne! (New to 1/12th scale RC? Scroll all the way to the bottom!)

This is the first 1/12th Euros in some time taking place outside of mainland Europe, although we did celebrate a World Championship 1/12th event in Milton Keynes in early 2020, with Marc Rheinard taking a hard-fought WC win in Modified.

The 2023 EC event will be taking place in what we could call a ‘traditional’ location for club racing in the UK – especially in the winter! Robertsbridge Community College is the venue, with the Eastbourne Electric Car Club our generous hosts.

With the BRCA (British Radio Car Association) organising and running this event, as well as November’s GP warm-up race), it’s sure to go as smoooth as possible. If you’re planning to attend, please note that the BRCA have released technical guidelines that all competitors should be aware of and abide by. The Stage 2 Report for the event has also been available for some time, and contains very important information for team managers and racers, whether you are racing Spec GT, LMP Stock or LMP Modified.

This race will of course be broadcast LIVE online from the Daily Dose of RC, complete with race commentary, photos and social media coverage! Use “#EFRA12thEC” when you post updates online to really boost the visibility for RC racers around the world!

Of course, be sure to check EFRA social media including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok or the website at www.efra.ws for the latest information including links to the LIVE coverage from Eastbourne!

If you’ve been around the 1/12th circuit for a while, you know that Alex Hagberg has been The Man to put your money on to take the win – watch him show off his speed and precision at the 2020 European Championships right here:

But the story would change in 2022 (the first EC since the before times): Michal Orlowski took the wins in both Spec and Modified LMP classes, breaking Hagberg’s streak!

With the best electric track racers in the world attending, who do you think will come out on top? Will Michal Orlowski hold onto his first 1/12th Modified EC title? Or will Alex Hagberg take it back and add to his title total? Can anyone else challenge for the overall wins?
